Meet William Ortner

Sr. Managing Director, Guggenheim Securities

Bill joined Guggenheim Securities in 2013 to establish the Strategic Equity Solutions platform. As head of the group Bill markets, structures and executes transactions for corporate clients of Guggenheim, and acts in an advisory capacity for clients transacting with another financial institution. Deal types include SPACs, de-SPACs, convertible securities, share repurchases and hedging & monetizing equity investments in other companies, and Bill also works on more traditional equity transactions such as IPOs and follow-on offerings. Bill has run Strategic Equity Solutions businesses at UBS, Barclays and Citigroup, and prior to that he was a corporate attorney with Shearman & Sterling.

Bill graduated cum laude from Tufts University with a B.S. in psychology, and magna cum laude from Boston University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Law Review. During his 25+ year career, Bill has created multiple new products, and executed a diverse series of transactions tailored to his clients’ objectives.
